The Happiest of Halloweens

Okay, after a couple of failed attempts this is my official foray into blogging.

My friend Lisa continues to remind me how easy it is and says why aren't I doing it and ... in fact her latest email to me, just this morning looks a little like this "Your blog...not so much. You need to publish at least one post to call it a blog. Check out (insert any name here)'s funny friend's blog" See what I'm up against?

She, of course is a prolific blogger http://happynesttoo.blogspot.com/ , all while holding three jobs, maintaining the perfect marriage to her handsome husband, running a huge household (one from which she expelled me just last night when after offering to load the dishwasher she informed me that no one except her, loads it correctly ), assisting her husband in running their construction buisiness (cheap plug http://www.rcbelt.com/ ), nourishing life long freindships, orchestrating family road trips, an amazing cook and baker, knits, crochets, is beautiful and svelte, is a talented artist, witty and urbane conversationalist, intelligent although a bit boorish (refer to dishwasher comment), and is raising two sweet, polite and funny twin boys, not yet three.

Speaking of twin boys; the reason for this post. For the past three Halloweens she has graciously allowed me to be their personal costume designer. Some of you may remember them from years past as Garden Gnomes...

...then, the following year you may remember A Couple Of Sock Monkeys, perhaps?...

...and here, Ladies and Gentleman, Mr.'s Elvis Presley...

...of course, trying not to laugh at them (kids don't seem to be too cool with that), here is a shot of them with their Elvis Hair Hats. As a caveat, I might say I snuck the hats into Fred Meyer's and tried to fit them on a personal sized watermelon as I didn't have any willing head models at the ready...

...one turned out looking like a too big, too many times washed, old crazy man's toupe sans glue strip and the other, like a yarmulke on a Hasidic Jew including spit curls which were supposed to be sideburns or possibly a fez...

...Elvis has left the building...

But the highlight of the night for me was, while Trick or Treating on Mississippi, one woman said to her husband "Honey, look it's Sigfried and Roy" - which clearly means they could get one more year out of those costumes...I'll just duct tape on a stuffed tiger...

This would normally be a good place to end. But I have to include one last picture of

Sparculus The God of Greek Dogs

Wow - my new favorite blog!
All that stuff about Lisa...totally true -- especially the crocheting. So much crocheting!
I knew I was right about your blogging skills!
Look at those costumes!
Grandma Rokke votes the Elvis' as the new best.
I'm holding out till next year -- got to dig through the stuffed animal bin for a white tiger.
For now I'm wolfing down 2 miniature 3 Musketeers bars, a pack of Smarties, and some Milk Duds, and linking YOUR blog to MY blog.

Cool, now you're famous. Hey, don't I get a little morsel for pulling that Sigried et al picture out of my - - -?

Again, if I didn't passively/aggressively mention that you are great at everything including blogging then maybe this whole thing was lost on you.

So then, to add insult to injury, you casually mention the linking of our blog...or, brother! You just can't help showing off.

As far as all the nice things you said about me, I saw you that morning and you had clearly started drinking early...
Or never stopped from the night before.
If the dishwasher thing really got to you, I might consider taking you on as a student. After a couple months you would be allowed to put the soap in the little dispenser, after a few more weeks, maybe you could load one of the boys melamine plates. A couple years down the road, maybe you would be ready to tackle the top rack. We can play it by ear.

Hi Jonna,
Don't know much more than you do about this as you can see from the witty exchanges I have with my dear friend, Lisa.
I can't actually see that you have any entries or how to view them if you do. Let me know via email.
Hey, thanks for the P, love it and a great addition to my collection.
